Nice coin WW now should you use photobucket well that's up to you,if you want to use photobucket it does give people certain advantages like controlling upload size, rotation clipping and not being a computer whiz I find that it give me that advantage so if you can do all of this from your computer you don't need photobucket but for me it just make's it easier regards Harry

wwhitman,

From work (where I spend most of my time on CCF) I can't see photobucket or other web-photo hosting sites (they are blocked). That also applies to any ebay or auction link. It's really frustrating seeing that little red (x) where a photo should be. It really limits my participation.

For all of you who upload to this site ... my sincere thanks!

Nuggethill,
If you right click on the image, you can download it to your system. Then you may have your way with it!

glad to be of some help. I just worry about space on the server. There appears to be no way to remove images.

ww, I'm not getting anywhere. Close up of MM shows notch in D of DOLLAR yet close up of DOLLAR does not. Check your coin over and let us know if you can find any doubling on date, profile, E Pluribus Unum, Liberty or ear. Any die gouges on eye or doubling of eyelid. Check reverse for doubling on motto and ledgend letters. Thanks.

That coin brings back some memories. Had one just like it
all my life. Sold it a year ago. MS64 DMPL
I bet the B in pluribus is broken and possibly doubled.
Broken star, check for the engraved wing feather also.

Here we go:
OBVERSE:
Date: looks okay - very slight doubling of first '8' - hardly noticable
I would say NO to date doubling.
Forth star from date on right - the 7 o'clock point is mangled.
B in 'PLURIBUS' lower connector is real lightly impressed - Much like
the VAM 9 from VamWorld.
LIBERTY: the 'L' has fungus that connects it to the 'I' SEE pic below

REVERSE:
ONE DOLLAR - doubled - ever so slightly - can determine difference
from other characters on coin
TRUST - the 'r' top is mostly missing - like VAM 9 from VAMWORLD

feathers - I don't know- looks the same but on VamWORLD I couldn't tell difference

ww, haven't given up, just going through the process of elimination again. If you can get a close up of the mangled star, sure would be helpful. Thanks

MorgansRmine,
Will be able to do this when I get home tonight. As I remember, the point at the 7 o'clock position was not normal. Seemed like part of the point was malformed. The rest of the star was fine.
How this helps a little. Pic to come.
Here is the pic. Came out unexpectedly okay!

ww, I have to say you were right all along. Just mistook the star as being whole in the original pictures. Great picture.

ww, don't go by me, I'm dead set against putting a Morgan in a coffin. Don't forget, this coin has an interest rating of 2. Scarcity of 3. Not very high for either. Chances are you may get a little extra for it being slabbed, but you may not get enough to cover the cost of getting it slabbed.

I checked with vamworld and Scarcity is at 4, but there is a lack of interest!
Since I am not an expert at these, I have a couple of questions:
Do you ever suggest slabbing? and if you do what would be the criteria?
I would think this coin would do MS-63 maybe 64 on a good day.
I don't know how to rank scarcity to population? Is that possible?

THANX for attempting to educate the un-educatable!

Slabbing for your own collection is a matter of personal preference. Slabbing for resale, in my opinion, is imperative for any coin that's going to be worth more than $100. Many buyers, even (especially!) the experts, won't purchase a raw coin that they can't inspect in person first. Even the anti-slabbers (<3 you guys - you're collectors too!) will acknowledge that a slabbed coin is an easier and more valuable sale than an equivalent raw coin.
