stewart, do you own a 1955 double die? Thats also a beautiful coin that you should own (I should follow my own advice!)

Did you get this coin from a roll or what?

I wish that I had a 55 double die. I picked up the 55s on ebay for a Crazy price (low) I did not even notice the error until I got it in the mail. (Extra Bonus)

They call that a "BIE" because of the die chip between the B and the E of liberty, in case you didn't know.

MS65RD, borderline MS66RD - depends on the eye appeal in person. Photos cannot justify such a small difference.

BIEs are somewhat common on 1955S cents - I've seen a number of them myself, and tossed them back in the rolls. I may live to regret that one of these days.

This a nice BIE. It also looks like a minor MM position variety in that the S looks to be touching the 5.

It amazes me how as we get older we tend to get a little jaded about the coins we keep don't we? when we were 10 years old if we would have found a BIE error. That would have been the center piece of our show coins for quite some time. Now it hardly registers a blip on our radar. Just an observation from a long time collector (Early 70s) when my niece finds something like that she goes on for quite some time. With her eyes all lit up like Christmas morning. I think that is why I have not looked up the value on a coin in quite some time.
I seem to be enjoying the hobby again much more.
