Hi all,

This is a fountain penny for sure - but I've never seen a completely missing "G" in God before.

PMD or Grease Filled Die? Thoughts?

Also has anyone ever rescued a penny like this before? I know cleaning is a sin and all, just curious.

Thank you!

Either grease filled or over polished.

If you come across a coin of value that needs rescuing (this one doesn't) you could try Verdicare on it. PM CCF member BadThad for more details.

It looks like a Grease Fill to me, but the overall condition is unfortunate. It might be a good coin to expirement on, but I don't think there's much to be gained.

Thanks everyone, I wish it was in better shape too. I'll check into verdicare... I like the experiment idea!

Grease filled. In my opinion, this coin is too far gone for VerdiCare.

It is also affecting 'IN' as well. Note how the width of the IN is larger and with the 'G' missing it is telling me that the Grease Fill was on the 'G' device and the other other two are partly filled on the deeper part of the die altering the other two devices:
