Hey all,

So I've yet to find a Double Die, and probably still haven't here. But thought I'd ask the experts. I checked Wexlers and there is only 1 variety and I cannot match any markers - so I'm thinking its a slim chance. Either way I couldn't ignore what I think is extra thickness in IGWT as compared to some other '81 D's I have.

Probably PMD but let me know your thoughts! I appreciate it.

Thank you.

First off,it would be a doubled die not a double die. You need to check all three sites:http://doubleddie.com/
http://www.varietyvista.com/ and http://coppercoins.com/advsearch.php
Your coin looks like circulation flattening and PMD to me.

There may also be some Grease Fill on some of the motto. But these were examples of the swollen master hub that was replaced the following year as the devices all look larger that year. There were not examples listed on V.V for that whole year on all three mints:

Wexler lists one:
http://doubleddie.com/828760.html
Coppercoins also lists the same one:

I agree with John1, to me it looks like circulation flattening. Keep searching!

Thanks everyone! I find Wexlers site easier to navigate so its my go to first one. I'll start checking all 3.
Interesting info on the swollen master hub that year too @Coop - thanks!
