Finally pulling this one out and going to send it to PCGS. It's not super high grade, but as long as it goes AU-53 or better I'll be good with that. It is my opinion that no matter how strong this DDO is, they are by no means rare and are far overpriced. But gotta have one for the collection so about a year ago I picked up this one for a decent price and just never sent it in. 1955 Lincoln Wheat cent doubled die - DDO-001, FS-101

Weren't there estimates that at least 24,000 of these were produced and escaped?

Wow! The doubling is so intense it almost makes you dizzy when examining it closely! I don't own many error coins, but I'd love to have one of these! Super cool coin!

What a great piece! I absolutely agree with your statements about the price and rarity of this doubled die. It's pretty common, but the amazing doubling causes for much higher prices than normal.

I paid $1,100 for it, but I buy a ridiculous number of coins off some dealers and they cut me a good price when I'm looking for something for my collection. Pretty sure you're not going to get an AU for that price too easily.
And you should keep your computer, as patience is key to getting a good collection without suffering for it. These are common coins and available by the dozens anytime, so save cash over time and be ready to buy when the right coin hits at the right price.

I'm seeing MD and maybe some circulation flattening. Spender for sure.
