My first post thanks for accepting me. Metal detecting find. Any thoughts. The punch out part is 6mm in diameter. The inner discs original position was at 2 o'clock

Hi Terry g and

It looks to me as if the coin has been deliberately mutilated - the marks on the reverse of the outer ring makes me think someone has gouged out the centre, damaged it by drilling out a section, and then put it back together with a piece probably from another coin. But I'll be interested in hearing other CCF members' opinions.

It looks like it was punched out when the coin was in one piece and the punching dislodged the centre disc. The center disc was then replaced but not to its original position. The small piece is the original also not in the correct position you can see the edge of Carlos's forehead. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Someone must have been playing around with his punching press. The strange thing is I found this on an Island far from any industrial machinery.
