Interesting error on a 1973 D Penny found in circulation. I call it the "flying 3" on date. Coin is worn bit I have never seen this before. Take a look at the pics and let me know your thoughts!

A well-damaged (and circulated) '73D. Copper, being a relatively soft metal, can be 'reshaped' when hit/dinged. It would appear the 3 was hit at a nearly horizontal angle, pushing (and mangling) the 3 from right to left.

Typical PMD from a coarse surface strong enough to displace numbers and letters from original.
