Hey guys. Got this in a yard sale. Looked on internet and it does not match the one that says FABIUS....clearly this one has FABIOUS and the dates are circling the bust and not beside it. This is what I could find from smithsonian. Anyone have any idea why this one is different? Something about a company named Scovill manufacturing?

I assume that the Fabius refers to Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus, and the similarity of Washington's strategy to his.

My guess is that "Fabious" was used because the makers were simply sloppy. There were probably hundreds of medals honouring Washington, and some were simply cheaply and sloppily made. I would not regard the difference between this one and others as having any special significance.
