I have a 1851 large cent with the FS unique variety. FS-301 and I purchased this over 35 years ago. I have been a coin collector for 40 years but I am extremely unsure as to what my next step should be. My wife and I are looking into a Vegas trip b/c I trust no one plus it would be entertaining

@aud, first welcome to CCF. Second, you next step should be to post some pics of this coin so that we can assess what you have.

Can someone with a Cherrypickers explain what the FS-301 is supposed to be on an 1851 large cent? I understand Newcomb varieties but don't have a cross reference to FS varieties.

Unless the CherryPickers Guide references every Newcomb variety individually, Why in the world would they reference the N-42? Yes it is unique, but it only differs by date position (like every other) and some small die markers.
