Hello all I went through a bunch of old pennies and all weighed 3.0-3.2 dates ranging from 1895-1908. However this one weighs 2.7 grams any thoughts? I have another 1899 and it weighs 3.1. Thank you in advance for your input.

Guessing a combination of wear and perhaps a light planchet to begin with.

It's worn down to G4 grade. I wouldn't expect 10% weight loss at that level of wear. An underweight planchet makes sense.
