Hi Guys,

I've had this coin in my possession going on a year, and I found it in a $25 coin roll box from the local bank.

It looks amazing and it feels just crazy, But, have no idea what is going on with it, and would like some help please,

Thanks

As you can see the right portion of the coin is the top of the coin and is completely smooth, but still has a perfect print. The left side of this coin is the lower part of the coin and has its normal rough texture.

It's been glued to something then taken off.

I have to disagree with you, there is no smudges from any type of glue being used.. If something was glued to the top, how can the coin have a perfect print on it that matches the left side? Also the long crack around the rim would indicate that it fits perfectly onto the rim?

Drop it in boiling water, it should all dissolve, if not, soak it in Acetone. it is a dried up foreign substance on this coin, whatever it maybe, it did not come out of mint that way!

@ Chase007

So would the top separate from the main coin in boiling water?

I have just put this coin into boiling water and left it in there for 5 mins. If anything it has revealed a new mark on the coin...

I also believe that there is something on the coin like glue or epoxy. Let's see what acetone does.

Yep, acetone will take it off. Boiling water will not remove some glues.

Hey guys,

After soaking in Acertone for 10mins, a tiny layer sure infact peeled off the coin, and revealing the rough texture underneath...So ive included a few pics and I appreciate all your help in figuring this one out.

Thanks

I guess a simpler solution would be, see if the raised devices, are raised on that area of the coin. If they are not raised, then they are covered over with something clear. That would be the first test on these.
