Hi,

I acquired this coin as part of a job lot.

It's Indian and It has been suggested that it is Gujrat Sultanate, Ahmad Shah II.

It is copper an weighs 9.3 grams and measures 16.6mm in diameter and 5.7mm deep.

Can anyone give me more information please.

Thanks in advance.

It might be dated (9)62 which would make it too late for Ahmad Shah III.

Thanks Gincoin43.

Is there any further information on the identity of this coin?

If its 962 and not 862, who would be the ruler?

I have no idea of coins of this type and am at the mercy of the guys with the knowledge.

Thanks

I couldn't find a match while I was looking yesterday, If it is 962AH it would be Ahmad Shah III I believe, If it is 862AH If would would be Ahmad Shah II. I leaning toward 962 because of the date placement.

Although it does have what may be the name Ahmad (I'm not fully convinced of it), this coin doesn't match any the types for the several Ahmads of Gujarat in Goron & Goenka. I agree the date seems to be x62 with 9 likely as the missing numeral. I suggest broadening the search.

Hi,
Thanks again for the information.
The coin seems to be a bit of an anomaly.

Is there anyone or anywhere it could definitely be identified?

Thanks,

Tom
