The same logic will apply as long as the Sacagawea dollars do not reuse any of the reverse designs each year. I have a problem with the mint mark being on the edge because it is not possible to see it in an album. For this reason, I have not bought a Dansco for the Presidential dollars yet; I cannot decide if I want to do Date-Mint or Date only. I have not made an effort to accumulate too many of these since I might decided to just collect the proofs. |

You know I would not have any problem with the edge lettering if it looked right. All of the Presidential dollars that I have, that are not in rolls, the edge lettering just looks off. Thats just my opinion on the them  |

It does seem a little cheap, especially since one can see the copper core running through the middle of the letters.

The Sac was a 'balanced' design with "In God We Trust" on the left and the date-mintmark on the right. With the motto still on the left but nothing on the right it looks 'out of balance'. I thought a "$1" logo on the right would balance it out nicely. If they want to leave the right side blank, they could move the motto to the edge lettering (a la '07-08 Pres. Yes... the more I look at it now, the more I do feel that the right side of the coin is empty. DNA's double blank sides do look better!

DNA's double blank sides do look better!  But unfortunately, with the change to the 2009+ Presidential dollars as precedent, the IGWT motto has to be on the face.  They should just leave the date and mint on the face, and maybe add some other important phrase to the edge so that "E Pluribus Unum" is not alone. |

Well, OK, I'm game for "$1" on the left, date/mintmark on the right (as before), then E.P.U. and I.G.W.T. mottos on the edge. There'd probably still be a few "godless dollar" outcries from folks who'd only see the I.G.W.T motto left of Sacagawea replaced with "$1" and not look at the edge lettering... You could still have a 'double blank side' Sac by putting "In God We Trust" in small letters under the Sacagawea portrait.... Edited by DNA

Do you think the government, after being hassled for the "Godless" Presidential dollars, will make the same "mistake" twice? I know our government can be incompetent, but I hope they are not that incompetent! Quote:

If its as bad as the pres dollars then we are going to have dateless sacs that we will not be able to differentiate from each other ... I personally still think the edge letter on the new stuff is really cheap and trashy looking. I would like it if they classed it up a little or just move it on the obverse or revere. Maybe the mint could reduce the prices a little too I never understood why they charge 36 dollars for a 25 dollar mint roll?  This is a gov department for creating money.. they are not suppose to make money off joe the taxpayer, that is the IRS's job..  |
