Hello all! I am new to this community and have only been collecting coins for about 9 months now and am loving it!! I found this 1948 Jefferson nickel in a bulk lot I purchased on ebay, and it appears to be an error maybe? Overall the coin looks pretty worn on both sides with pitting on the obverse and worn edges. What I'm curious about is what appears to be some type of strike through or doubling on the reverse within "E Pluribus Unum" There are clearly the reversed partial letters "BUS U" and the left leg of the "N". The reverse is uneven with a raised spot right in and under "UNUM" and the image of Monticello is also very distorted and uneven and the steps look like they're merging with the word "MONTICELLO" but that may just be damage like the pitting on the front?

What kind of error is it? Is it worth anything? Let me know what you think!!

the mirrored lettering means your coin was pressed against another, probably in a vise long after it left the mint

Agree, vise job of some sort, just an amateur attempt at creating a error.
