I found this quarter that only weights 4.6g and it sound identical to other silver coins. The coin isn't in the greatest shape either. Its also only about a little more than half as thick as a normal quarter. Any thoughts or suggestion wiuld be appreciated.

There are no 1980 silver quarters. They are clad that year. If the coin is thin, then it should be showing copper. Images would be a great help. If the coin is silver color and thin, it was probably plated after someone did an acid bath.

5.67 grams would be normal weight for a clad quarter.

I can clearly see the copper showing through the corroded outer layer. Just a normal, badly corroded coin.
