I remember reading a few years back that ALL 1967 PL sets were minted with 80% dime/quarter yet circulation mintages were a mixture of 80% and 50%.

Theres a local gentleman who I visit frequently to collect with, who doesn't use technology, is looking for some literature to confirm this. He recently tried to sell a dozen PL sets and had someone show up with a scale claiming they were 50% quarters/dimes by weighing the cellophane coins. I'm aware that this is a lie, and I am personally confident that all PL coins are 80% for that year, but I'm looking for some proof, to bring to him.

I am wondering if someone has any information.

Thanks!

According to the 73rd (2020) edition of Charlton all of the 1967 PL sets are .800 fine silver.

All of the PL and other numismatic 1967 coin sets are good silver .800 fine .
A lot of numismatists do not realize that the PL sets
the 20 Dollar Gold Sets and the Red Box sets were
Manufactured and distributed right up to the middle of
1968 due to a huge back log of orders .
I am curious if a confirmed ( Certified ) 1967 50 per cent
PL 10 & 25 cents or an 800 fine 1968 10 cents or 25 Cents
will ever show . Certainly a possibility .

More than possible.....quite likely I would say.

But why would anyone really care about a variety that can only be assessed with an XRF or maybe a "ping test" that would degrade a high grade coin? It is just not very exciting as an "error" or variety......

You just described the scenario of the 1859 Brass Cent ........you need a proper XRF
Analysis! But I digress!

No we do not have an XRF ourselves.
We do have ACCESS to one as needed.
