I know I'm super late to this but, I stumbled upon this forum because I too have found myself a dime that is almost identical to yours, except mine has been what seem like planchet chips. The face of Roosevelt has a the exact same error.

Probably what you are seeing is die chips, that leaves raised bumps on the design features on the face. We've seen before and I attribute this to wrong tempering of the dies that were quenched too soon making the dies brittle, breaking away leaving voids on the dies, leaving raised chips on the coins. That maybe what you are seeing.

@gilly, first, welcome to CCF. Second, rather than reanimate an old thread, best practice is to start a new one for a new coin.
