This is called a die chip - fairly common on mid-1950's wheat cents. Generally does add to the value.

I refer to these as a die event. The die is breaking down because of age and the continued use of the 1950'W wheat cents makes more of these to be found during that decade.

broken die post. The piece on the striking die, that puts, the hole in the top of the 9, broke off, so it allows metal to flow in..

Not a broken post, just a chip. Why not a broken post? Because on all the Lincoln cents, there are no closed 9 or 6's on this series. So it is not a closed device, so it is not broken post, as the posts is are used on the closed devices.
