Unfortunately, this looks like Die Deterioration Doubling to me.

If you are thinking it is Machine Doubling, you are correct.

Note the affected area is on the insides of the devices, DDD affects the outside edges of the devices:
2020-Jefferson-Nickel-Machine-Doubling
It moves towards the closest rims.

But it is not a doubled die. So far no DDO's listed on wexler's site for nickels. But several on the reverses on the 2020 Nickels:

On the single squeeze dies, the doubled dies are on the central areas of the reverses:

No. But check the reverse on the areas, I just added to see if it is a DDR?
