looks to possibly be a number 2 under the 30 of the date. Any and all help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Your images are not very clear, but what you are seeing under the date is likely just damage from circulation strikes.
Two reasons I can think of that it isn't what you suggest.

1)The way the minting process works, there would be no numeral 2 "floating" around during the die making process, to end up on a die from 1930.

2)The font would be wrong for earlier dies from 1922.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
