The two coins are minted years apart so different dies would have been used.

Here is a photo of the same year coins to confirm this.

The double rim wasn't all that uncommon on the 2008 5c but I'd keep an example of it just for interest sake.

No real value though ... you'll find that they only sell for a few dollars on sites such as ebay.

The double rim on 2008 coins is not that uncommon - I think the explanation is the pre-rimmed coin blanks having the wrong sized rim.
