I think post-mint damage. One coin smacked with another, either accidently or on purpose.

I disagree with Uncle Bill. The rim is undamaged. It would be if hit by another coin. Sure looks like a lamination broke off another coin imprinting a blank then struck fully? Cool.

Is that glue residue from another coin being stuck to it? Hard to tell in the pics, but it could be. We have seen this in the past. Try an acetone dip to see if it comes off.

Yes, would love to see this in hand, on the reverse, just left of the fireworks, there is a weird pattern, looks like the back of sonic the hedgehog's head.. and on the obverse, the mark goes through the D, so someone has messed with this, or it is a freak mint error..

I am leaning towards after market damage, as there is a lot going on here..

Waiting for SPP, to weigh in..

I would need to see it in hand. If it were my coin, and given that is a common specimen strike (BU) silver dollar, I would give it a dip in silver cleaner first, then a bath in acetone, and then see what I had...

Yeah eh thanks alot guys I thought it was a pretty neat error, I did dip it in silver cleaner and it stayed the same but haven't done the acetone bath. Hey Spp, what would the acetone bath reveal?
