Indo-Scythian Coins? - Coin Community Forum

jlslar New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 10/29/2020 5:04 pm Hello coin experts! I have unexpectedly acquired about 40 of these coins. They appear to be Indo-Scythian, of silver or some silver alloy. They measure 1 cm to 1.5 cm. They all have a rider on one side, and a standing figure on the other. Most have some text around the edges though it's often cut off. Any thoughts? Thank you for whatever you can tell me. Report this Post to the Staff

These coins are identifiable but we need decently cropped photos of the individual coins to ascertain the type and diameter with weight would helpful too... Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 10/29/2020 10:10 pm I agree, "Azes II". On at least one coin I can read AZOY ("of Azes"). The prevailing theory is that there were two kings named Azes but some hold out for one Azes who lived a really long time (or one Azes who didn't live so long but was honored with a posthumous coinage). With my current equipment I haven't been able to improve on the photos already posted; however, the lettering is not particularly readable even with a distinct photo. These are the most legible examples. On coin 002 I read ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ (= Greek Megalou). Report this Post to the Staff
