NGC - Coin of the Day: On Nov. 5, 1913, Prince Regent Ludwig deposed his cousin to become Ludwig III, the last king of Bavaria. He ruled until the end of World War I in 1918. This German States 1913 Copper 10 Mark Pattern depicts the king on its obverse.

Bavarian King Otto was packed away to a padded cell in Denmark and Luitpold took over as Prince Regent until he died at age 90, when he was replaced by Ludwig III the last king of Bavaria. This pattern is part of a series of unofficial patterns by Karl Goetz.
