I am so sorry and I hope I'm not breaking a rule but I've just got to say this to people that will understand me.....that darn eagle is holding asomething else not a branch! Every quarter and everytime I look and show everyone they agree too!! Design flaw or practical joke? That my new friends is the question

I'm assuming based on the content of the post this is some joke about the arrows looking like a phallic object or something. I don't get it but that's kind of what I'm assuming he means.

The Eagle is perched on a bound bundle of arrows, signifying readiness to defend freedom and our way of life.

Most coinage symbols have some meaning. The figure of Liberty on the Standing Liberty quarters shows Liberty standing out onto the world stage with a shield to protect and a olive branch for peace.

The Eagle on the Peace dollar is sitting watchfully on a rock labeled peace with an olive branch - preferring peace but watchful never the less.
