I have 2 (1921 & 1921-D) Morgan silver dollars. The silver one has very fine details.

Question: Why do they differ in colors? Also does anyone know if the coin with fine details would be worth much?

Thanks for any help!

They're both effectively bullion coins. Worth more or less $28 retail

The one on the bottom looks to have significantly less wear and may have been cleaned or polished. The top one has a typical well circulated appearance. I agree with Grape that they are not worth much more than melt value.

They look different because they are in two different degrees of wear. The bottom coin, D mint mark? might be worth a bit more.

Worn silver typically takes on this appearance. It is a combination of embedded dirt and environmental toning.

The top one was in circulation, used for commerce and being handled for years. The bottom one was tucked away somewhere and protected for just as many years. The bottom one also looks like it has original mint luster, the way it looked when it first left the mint.

One is well worn and tarnished, the other quite the opposite.
