hmm my guess is that it is more likely a reproduction of some sort with plating, and not a genuine Trade dollar. Is it attracted to magnet?

It has no attraction to a strong neodymium. I only say plated because a think plating could add that to the silver weight. But on a coin like this that would be almost a hate crime to the numismatic community. I'm going to check its density next. If its funky ill bring it to get xrf scanned tomorrow.
None of the scuffs or wear on the coin show any discoloration.

came across a gold plated silver Trade dollar. The density registers as silver. Not magnetic with a very strong neodymium. Its slightly over the weight like it should be if its plated. The details and outer edge are sharp and correct looking. Seems to pass every test for a silver Trade dollar. But someone damaged it by plating? Can you reverse electroplate a coin?

Finally my main problem with the coin isn't if its silver. (Unless its like 9k haha )

My issue is the mint mark and the date. I shouldn't be able to come across a 1921B in Japan. Or anywhere. What do I do ?

My intuition is that is a fake - the fields look a bit "bubbly" to me, maybe indicating a cast copy, gold plated to attract more attention.
Confused as to the weight - first post said 27.9g, but later 37.2g?
Also not sure the silver test has been applied correctly. If the Neodymium magnet shows no attraction at all - when rested on the coin inclined it slides off rapidly - that would indicate non-silver, probably cupro-nickel. If the magnet slides off slowly, maybe twisting or holding occasionally pausing, that would be silver. (Of course, if it sticks firmly that would indicate iron or nickel.)

I meant to correct to 27.2 sorry, and I just checked if there was any attraction. I will take photos not in the big shortly and upload. It was sold as gold plated silver, but no reference to the actual coin under the gold

Fake reproduction, looks way too fresh and copied to be real. Has a newness about it. Did you buy it off a Chinese seller or Chinese based website like one named after an Arabian nights character or a a word you use to describe something you desire.

Almost looks like the wrapping on a chocolate coin.
