Hi all,

To play it safe can someone please confirm if this 1943 Bombay I penny is the long denticle version?

Thanks

Doesn't look like it. The long variety stands out and is almost twice the length as that shown.

Hmmm... looking at the pic on this site 2 denticle lengths would reach the bottom of the P in Penny which is what I seem to have. The site says this is the long denticle reverse. Now I'm confused.

Hmm. still not 100%. Will put it in as short but would love to see a comparative pic of both long and short to be certain.

David, looking out your photos it would appear that yours is a standard 1943 Bombay penny.

If you compare the thin denticle under the dot on each coin you will see that the one on the left hand side is proportionally longer from the rim to the dot.
Also the same can be said for the thin denticle under the letter P.

The PCGS population report is a great resource for researching these varieties.
Plenty of high res pics of this one and the others.

@echidna - Many thanks. I didn't know that PCGS has a reference library like this. Awesome!
