I mainly collect US coins, but over the course of this, I've accumulated about 25 Canadian cents. I was thinking of getting the Whitman album for them, to match my other albums. Any idea on what's the easiest and cheapest way to acquire a bunch of Canadian cents? I live on Long Island, so going to Canada's not going to work for me. 12 hours in the car each way just won't work. Thoughts?

to CCF. Are you collecting the small, large or both cents? You can post on CCF in the auction forum (once you satisfy the requirements) - which is only 50 posts. You can request anyone who is willing to sell to contact you. I know there are quite a few Canadian collectors on CCF. Good luck - Canadian collecting is quite rewarding

Thanks.
I didn't even know that there were different sizes. The ones that I have are exactly the same size as US pennies.

SJUHawks- well large pennies were made between 1858 and 1920. Since 1920 they have been the same size as US pennies.

Well in that case, then it's definitely the small ones. I think 40s or 50s are as far back as I go.
It just seems so silly to me, though, to keep all the Canadian pennies in a coin tube, when, for $3, I can keep them in a Whitman folder, and look at them, you know?

SJUHawks, when you get to 50 posts just remind me and I will send you a list of the duplicates I have. Or if you want I can sell you the whole bunch at face value and you can sort through them yourself.

One of the best ways to aquire them is trades, at least for the common dates. You're still a few posts shy of the 50 minimum for the Buy/Sell/Trade boards. Figure out what you have, what you need and continue to post. I'm sure there are people willing to work with you and help you get what you need.

have you tried searching bank boxes of pennies? usually you can find quite a few of those especially if you are up north. we get them all the way down here in california.

That's where I got most of the Canadian's. I got a few along with about 10 wheats and one Indian Head in my first box. I've only been through one more since, and came up with about 25 total.

thats pretty good, I still haven't found an Indian Head penny roll searching. keep doing that and they will build up. you can also try foreign coin lots, maybe a local coin shop. you might have to look around, not all dealers deal with modern foreign coins.
