1998 D Penny Plating Error? - Coin Community Forum

hhaaiirryy New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 11/04/2020 6:52 pm I found a 1998 D penny which I believe has a plating error. Please always post full photos of the whole coin, both sides, in future postings. to the CCF! Report this Post to the Staff

John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 11/05/2020 05:24 am to CCF. Looks like a plating issue to me. It does have split copper plating,but also showing zinc on the bust. Some people say it is PMD from using a cigarette lighter on it. I am kinda on the fence about that theory. John1 Report this Post to the Staff
