I really like that look of that coin. The mint should actually produce it rather than the millions of useless, ugly commemorative coins that they have. They don't even have to to make it a $100 coin, just reuse the design.

I am a firm believer in "there is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes). This is the second Morgan design with more than a passing resemblance to an existing coin. I am reminded of the British Penny of the same time when looking at the $100 gold. The other is Morgan's silver dollar; it's resemblence to the French 5 Franc of 1849 ~ 1851 and again in 1870 is uncanny.

I guess no one proof reads this stuff because instead of 1977 it should be 1877 because there is no way 1977 was the low point of the 1873-79 depression

I think I like it even more than the St. Gaudens Design!

Morgan's design looks like a full picture, with background and an scene not like the St. Gaudens.

The mint should make a Ultra High Relief Version of this too!
