While I was doing my research on possible experimental planchet and other I decided to ask about your opinion. This one sticks to the magnet. no other visible or big errors but a couple of rim dents.

My thought is that it weighs more than the normal of 5.7,that is was plated with some kind of magnetic metal. So,PMD. John1

John1 any knowledge of any quarters like that? Could it be a wrong planchet? I try to find any reference. And what to do with it?

What does the edge look like? Could be it has plating that is magnetic.

I suspect magnetic plating.

This is the picture of the edge. Looks normal to me. And Yes it is plated. That is what gives it extra milligrams. Suppose to be not a magnetic composition, something like gold. I do not remember exactly. I think it was sent to me as a promotion to buy some collectibles.

Not normal. You should see copper on the edge. It's plated.

I have sets with coins like that and none of them stick to the magnet This one did not come with a set. It was promotional, sent to me some other time, some other company I do not even remember. Same time it doesn't look any different from those in the set.

bobby131313 With all my respect Thank you for your reply but I know it. I should name my topic: 2000 Quarter South Carolina "PLATED" Sticks To The Magnet

I could agree though that plating causes this magnetism and it is possibly not 24k or similar. Of cause I would like some more information on it and what could I do to know for sure that is not a planchets' issue?
