Rather than adding pics to the 1915-D (Also graded AU-50) thread and making it confusing, I figured I would just start a new post. Using this post as an ANACS AU-50 comparison. For reference here is the link:

ANACS graded this one in the same submission. To me, this one looks like a straight forward AU-50. Obverse is stronger than the reverse. There is a bit of luster hiding in there, just couldn't seem to capture it. Thoughts on grade accuracy of the two? Thanks in advance!!

Personally, I'd say EF-45.

Definitely see where you both are coming from. In hand, I would call the reverse XF-45, obverse however I would call a string AU-50, pushing AU53 sharpness, net AU50, but maybe I'm overshooting.

Always appreciate both your feedback!

AU-50 looks spot on to me. Nice coin!

It's a typically soft San Francisco strike for the date. Like most early buffs, the softness is most obvious in the central devices. Part of what you are seeing is a difference in die state (EMDS obverse, LMDS reverse). Another part is the much heavier die polishing on the reverse. Note the deep polishing marks on the buffalo's right rear leg and the buffalo's head, to reduce evidence of the "LIB" of LIBERTY / rear leg clash and the second feather / buffalo's head clash. This is enough to make the reverse look slightly more circulated.
