Hi everyone. I have this token, which I believe is a ENGLAND R H HOVENDEN AND SONS - BARBER SHOP 2/s TOKEN PIECE - LONDON
I have searched online, and I cant find this exact coin. I have found others like a 2d. But not a 2/s. Which I am assuming it's a 2 Shilling?
I hope someone here, can help me out please, as I am lost, when it comes to tokens.

@Jonh1 I looked on that site, and couldn't find anything. Even did numerous google searches, and the ones I am finding are similar tokens, but the one I have, nothing comes up anywhere 🤷 #8205;#9794;#65039;

There are so many tokens, and many of the trade tokens were issued in numbers of hundreds or thousands, so that even a a massive database like the token catalogue has many gaps. The token catalogue has got even more gaps for non-US tokens. I have a number of items that are not on-line. All that proves is that the item is uncommon and nobody is very interested in it. So I suggest that you add this to the token catalogue, and the next person who looks will find it.

You already identified your token correctly as a barbers check. The value indicated on your token is indeed 2 shillings. this value fits in the range of values issued. Indeed tokens from other manufacturers include this value. An article about barber checks can be found here (page 22): https://www.thetokensociety.org.uk/...lume_one.pdf

In Ralph Hayes's article 'The Toilet Club — Part 2, Personal Grooming.' (TCSB vol.5 no.10 (January 1997) pp.382-390) the 2/- piece is included in the list of known values. You can find the article here
https://www.thetokensociety.org.uk/...ume_five.pdf

As you can see from the list there are a lot of values. The higher values are probably later issues as inflation over the years caused the price of barbing to rise.
