I found this in change and it's a 2014 D Washington Arches Quarter. It is MD and I've looked at thousands of these things with MD that looks like Class 6 doubling. This is the first I have seen in hand or on our forum that has a complete split serif. Pretty cool to find. Enjoy!

Just Machine Doubling. Doubled dies don't occur on that area. The devices are raised on the machine. The machine is look and strikes before/after the strike and alters these incuse devices. Never a doubled die. This happena on 70% of these incuse devices on the ATB Quarters. The doubled dies are in the central areas of the designs, not on the outside edges.

Coop, I posted in my comments it was Machine Doubling. It's just the first one that I have ever seen that is split and not look like a class 6.

That is neat showing a significant notch on that 2.
