Hi guys I'm new to coin collecting but heres 1 of 3 coins I have right now its a 1957 (d) us quarter witha unique error can someone tell me what I have here I appreciate all your help thanks
That is what is called a spooned coin. It has been repeatedly tapped around the edge flattening it, this used to be done to make a ring out of a coin. There is also a Dryer Coin that is similar, a coin trapped in a commercial dryer for a long period doing similar damage. Dryer Coins usually show more damage on the faces of the coin though, so I would call this one intentionally done.
