I can't make out the date there's errors on reverse. I don't know what to call this. It weighs 3.3 grams. Please give me your opinions on this. I wanted to add that the reverse is silver in color and the obverse is smaller in diameter. Sorry that picture wasn't any help. I'll try one more time

The deep ridges give the appearance of a dryer damaged coin. We see a lot of those here. Post mint damage could be by other means however.

Note the shape of the rims? That looks like it was struck through a capped die. But with the weight 3.3 grams I have to ask if the whole coin is copper? I looks like a 1970, so it might be a real strange coin. I wonder if the reverse is clad colored, and the obverse is copper, if it is a quarter struck on a die thickness of stock that was struck through a capped die?

I can't see if it had a Denver mintmark or not. Just don't know it what the weight of these wrong stock quarters were? If it were this, that would be pretty rare.

Is a split planchet ruled out by the rims extruding on the reverse?

How would I go about finding the value of this quarter. Also what would be the best way to sale.

First you need to confirm what it is. Then later, determine what it is worth.

I just Sent Mike Diamond a message on this one.

First you need to find out exactly what it is. To me it looks like some kind of damage after it left the mint. If that's the case it's still worth a Quarter. IMHO

Maybe Mr. Mike Diamond can give his thoughts on this as well.

Until there is a definitve attribution it is worth 25c.

The bumpy surface on the obverse is odd. Try soaking in acetone (not nail polish remover) to see if any comes off. If it comes off or not will be helpful information.

Ok I'm going to soak it in the acetone. How long does it need to soak?

While I can't say exactly what happened to his coin, its appearance and specifications are incompatible with any known mint error or anything the minting process could produce. Therefore, I must conclude that this is a case of post-strike damage/alteration.

Well it sat in acetone for about 10 minutes. It did seem to start to smooth it out a little. I was post another picture.
