I am interested in the life of George Kruger Gray, because he was involved in a dramatic rescue off Crosby Beach in 1893. Indeed, I written the story, if anyone is interested. I know that he was the 'preferred contractor' for The Royal Mint, and designed the reverses for many prewar UK coins as well as for a number of Commonwealth Countries. His designs usually showed his initials. I was therefore very interested to notice that as late as 2012, the Mauritius 1 rupee coin was to his design. Does anyone know if Mauritius, or indeed any other country, still issue coins of his design? Grateful thanks.

from Kent in England! As far as I am aware, the current half-rupee and one-rupee coins in Mauritius still bear Kruger Gray's reverse designs. They were certainly still in use when I was there a few years ago. Link to Numista: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/maurice-2.htmlAnother Kruger Gray design still in use is the Beaver on the Canadian five cents.

The beaver reverse of the Canadian nickel still in use since 1937 is a Kruger Gray design.

The Canadian one cent maple leaf reverse from 1937 until the demise of the denomination in 2012 was a Kruger Gray design. He also designed and engraved the 50 cent reverse in use from 1937-1954.

Thanks everyone for your very helpful replies. Much appreciated. Remarkable that coin designs of the late 1930s should still be either in circulation or still being minted in 2020. Is this, I wonder, quite unusual? Even a record?
Kruger Gray was certainly a prolific designer, and coins were not his only output by any means. Art and fine art must have been in the blood. His maternal grandfather was a goldsmith, his maternal grandmother a gifted artist and member of the RA. Others among her ancestors were also gifted professional artists.
The story of his beach rescue that is online on his rescuer's family website is a condensation of my longer writeup, and anyone is welcome to have a copy by email.
