1990 D Washington Quarter Any Input To The Cause,,, Help Explain The Damage

Tabbys2013 New Member United States 39 Posts	Posted 11/17/2020 12:32 pm Hello everyone. I was searching through some quarters that cme from change last night and came across this quarter. It looks really beat up and I was going to put it in the return pile until I took another look at the date. I thought WOW look what someone did tot this poor quarter. I took a closer look and a toothpick to see how deep the scrape was and to my surprise IT MOVED...LOL.. OK, I could guess a fold over that broke off, and this piece held on some how. Or a collar clash and it broke off.. Any thoughts of the cause I would Love to hear them,,, and what should I do with it. You may have saw many just like this but, this is a new one on me. Makes you wonder how it held on all this time. Thank you all so very much. Report this Post to the Staff

I am going to put it in a 2 x 2 regardless. I think it is really interesting to see something like this on a coin, and how such a small wire like piece held on from hand to hand,, Thanks guys... Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 11/18/2020 01:45 am Something has scraped the edge from the edge toward the center of the coin creating a thin shaving that had broken away for the rim in the center but is still attached at the ends. You can clearly see the scrape marks in the copper on the rim. Report this Post to the Staff
