this is the second one I have found in two rolls of ciruclated wheat pennies I bought off ebay . is this kind of common or I'm i just getting luck here

That is not a double die that is Machine Doubling sorry

It's a doubled die, not Machine Doubling.

Colleen - These are somewhat more common than a number of other doubled dies, but all doubled dies are somewhat scarce. I have seen a few dozen of these in my time which indicates they are not extremely difficult to find.

Nice find!

Coppercoins, where's your mother when I need her? I see the doubling under the nose, but barely see it on the numbers. Vertical bar of the 5, and bottom left of MM. See some on the left of the one. Are those the most obvious places?

I took your advice from a couple weeks ago. My 1995 DD (on the liberty) showed up today. Received a "poor mans" 1995 DD last week. Will sit and stare at them with a loupe until the light bulb goes off, or until the light bulb burns out.

The most obvious doubling on this die (which does not show well in the photo above) is the eye. That's the feature that stands out the most. Take a look at the photos of the die on my site - you'll see.
