Quote: just finished up my third box in a week yesterday. I upgraded a few holes in my Dansco. I also found 9 wheats and who knows how many coppers. I never keep track. I just throw them in a coffee can. When the coffee can gets full I dump them in a bucket. Maybe it's the lack of humidity around here but I rarely find corroded zincolns. I think I found two in the last box. Bright red zinlcolns are common for any date. In 3 boxes I have yet to see a WAM. Here's a pic of the stack of BU red '90s that I got from the last box. There are around 3 rolls worth there. I also got a couple of rolls worth of BU 80s cents. Where do you live? BU Zincolns are common for any date? What about these: 82 SDZ, 82D SDZ, 83D, 84D, 85D, 86D, 87D, 90D, 91D, 93D? In my area those are very tough to find in BU. |

Brought home a $25.00 box today  . Big disappointment, there was not a coin earlier than 1983 in the entire box . Some one had obviously just dumped this box...   |

I live in Denver so D mint marks are much more common than P in any denomination. 82 D SDZs are actually the most common 82 zincolns that I run across.   |

If you can get them like that, save all of them and I am sure that those of us here on the East Coast will buy them. They next to impossible to find in good BU condition.

I've been thinking about putting together rolls of mixed date 82-89 and 90-99 BU zincolns and tossing them on ebay. What do you guys think would be a fair price? |

Another box down. Nothing spectacular but I did get a couple of nice '69 S proofs.  I also found a BU wheaty. Too bad it's only a 58 D. Still no WAMs :(.   |

I'm still not having much luck. Stopped at the bank today and picked up a couple rolls. The only interesting finds were:
2009 LP1 x4
2009 LP4
1950 Canadian cent
1965 Canadian cent
those are the only ones I pulled.

 All right, back on 4/2/10 on page 97 I posted about finding 99 1974 red BU cents in two boxes. Most believe that this is just an example of the great coin jar turn in of the "Second Great Depression". I was willing to accept that and then last evening it happened again. This time there were 17 BU 1974s in one boxes.  But, this mystery goes deeper. In those two boxes with the 99 1974s were a number of wheats that looked like someone had rubbed on them with an eraser or maybe steel wool. Not the complete obverse, just a portion, maybe half. I just chalked this off tto a wheat collect that someone had been playing with and had cashed in. I saw no correlation. Now I find anothert batch of the same BU 1974s and you guessed it. In with them are a handful of wheats with the same rub marks.  I go thru about 4/5 boxes a week. Get four boxes each Monday. This means I have picked up between 16 and 20 boxes since the great 1974 find. I get the boxes from either M&T or PNC and quite often the branch I go to is out so I go to the next one. I have 4 locations I get cents from and rotate them to keep from getting anyone branch upset with my volume. Now, all of a sudden, more. How can there be such a time lag if this was someones change jar/collection that was cashed in? Just does not make complete sense to me. Jim |

These were found about three boxes ago and have been trying to get decent pics to post. After about 50 tries, these are the best I have and they do not do these coins justice. These had to be dumped out of a collection.   The dark spot on the steps is just the light being reflected away by a small mark. It is not carbon or corrosion. Great finds! It's really amazing how this stuff happens with no plausible explanation. In the last 2 months I have gotten $20 worth of BU 1980s and two $25 Brinks boxes that were all copper. I can't figure it out either but we will take the good fortune, right?!  |
