Great finds, Thad. The strikes on the 1980s are strong. They are so hard to find like that. I have been shutdown for about a week as my darling decided that we had to paint my coin lab (niece calls it that). Put it together last evening. Will try to go thru a few rolls tonight.

Box #2; Found a 1916, 1917 among 17 or 18 total wheats. Added what I needed to my album and the kids took turns choosing from the left overs

Not the greatest of shapes, I have no clue on grades, just know they look well worn.. I'll see if I can take some pics of 'em. Haven't taken any yet of anything so I'll need to take a gander at the photo section on here to see what kind of tips there are for taking pics. Good luck on your box!

The easy way to add a pic is using the (reply to topic) tab at the bottom of this page. And use your MS paint to reduce its size to 100kb or less. And click on add photo button it will let you search for the pic. Do you use a camera or scanner? anyway I will be waiting to see yer pics of em. Shane

Well my Kodak 3.1MP easyshare camera doesn't seem to be the best thing for coin picture taking, hard to get a non blurry image, so it kind of sucks... Plus it's my first attempts at picture taking.. I'll have to play with my fiance's camera next time it's a little nicer than mine. The coins look a little better in person than these, but the 1916 does have a decent scratch going thru it as you can see.

Does your cam have a macro mode? That makes a HUGE difference.

Nice finds BTW!

Oh, you might try putting that 1916 in a window sill for a few months to see if that scratch will retone.

Not sure about macro mode, I tried the "close range" mode, but it lost focus and went blurry when I got too close... Its a Easy Share CX6330.

In an actual window sill? It's sitting in my Dansco album at the moment.

Yep, a kitchen one works best. Exposure to the cooking vapors helps speed the process. Just lay the coin with the scratch side up. It could take a year or longer, just check it periodically. Eventually it will brown and look better.

Found this little beauty inside a Brinks box last night!

It still amazes me as to how a 109 year-old coin can be found in circulation...in such great condition.

BadThad, I may give that a try, thanks!

Scotty, very nice! I was happy to find a 1916/17 in just my 2nd box. Would be sweet to find one like that...
