Believe it or not, that's my 3rd 1909 VDB in the past 2 months. I found one a long time ago (15 years) when I was 9 in my dads pocket change... that was my first, and still the nicest.
I seem to average 8-12 wheaties per box, and I pick them up from TD Bank around here in the Philly area.

i buy boxes from my local wells fargo, could they possibly be from brinks? how do people tell if they are brinks boxes or not? I've only done 2 boxes now. 8 wheats from one and 9 from the other.

In the Brink boxes is written Brinks on the box , the rolls are plastic wrapped (sometimes you find cwr on it but not usual ) I never got a wells Fargo my self but I'm almost sure are the ones where the rolls are paper wrapped plus the rolls are set in verticall position as I see in the pics you put here in the site ! Btw I was wondering if the Brinks fill their boxes with coin bags from the counter machines from the banks wouldn't be impossible to find a Indian head in a Brinks roll once I heard here in the forum the counter machines reject the IHC's ? If I'm right that's why I never found a IHC during my roll search and only in the last months I went trough a box a day sometimes and I wonder where are the IHC many people tell they find on the rolls ?! Uh, IHC's are the same metal content as regular cents, no? It doesn't reject them... they're just really, really rare to find in circulation. |

i bought two boxes from wells fargo. the first had paper wrappings and they were all verticle. the second box had coins all plastic wrapped and they were placed in the box horizontal. what is the difference? were they packaged by different people.
what boxes have the best finds in them?

That what we are trying to find out ! I only get Brinks boxes and I always find 15 to 20 wheties but most 50s 40s and from Philly , I remember only one time I got skunked and found only 2 wheat cents other then that 15-20 per box ! I think we must start change the dates we need to fill our albums that will make thinks easy for all . Can't wait to have enough post to do that
I have many doubles of 1911,1919, 1923,1927,1934,36,37,40,41,43,dozens of 44,46,47 ,50's xf and au so I ll give 4 or 5 for one of my houle fillers !

hmm, seems like brinks boxes are the way to go but I dont know how to get them. my average is 8 or 9 so far. but that is only 2 boxes. I think I will pick up another box tomorrow to hopefully get a higher number, then I will try to find a brinks box.
by the way, which bank do you go to to get your boxes of brinks pennies?

cool, i'll try bank of america cause there are some where I live. and I haven't heard of tdbank. anyways, you dont need an account at bank of america to buy a box do you?

Keep the faith guys the IHC's are out there. Just a matter of looking through alot of rolls. I found 5 last year the oldest being 1883 |

I have found 2 IHC's in Brinks boxes in the last 6 months. It really is the luck of the draw folks! It doesn't matter if you are getting Brinks boxes or CWR's or some other company,if you search enough,you'll find good stuff. If it was easy,or formulaic,it would take the adventure and fun out of it. I have been avoiding boxes lately and doing CWR;s and am finding about 10 wheats per 50 rolls. Copper ratio is running about 30%,boxes were running about 3 wheats per 50 rolls and 23% copper. I will probably switch back to boxes come February. Last year I got a complete roll of 43 steels,including 8 D's and 4 S's. That was a customer wrapped roll. So,my point is, just keep looking and enjoy the adventure and don't get so stressed about whether you are looking"in the right place"! None of us know where the right place is,but,if you look in a variety of places then you will find,as long as you are searching rolls there are great coins out there for the taking. Forget about value and enjoy the adventure. There is already too much stress in most of our lives,why create more with your hobby? Happy hunting! |

Just found a 1917 D in AG condition. Pretty rough,but glad to have it. Found it in a customer wrapped roll!
