well, I decided to do my first box of pennies today. A $25 Brink's box from my bank Canadian Copper --3 Wheats------------4 pre82-----------516 1982mix----------86 Copper % =20.92 +/- 3.44%(82's) overall some about 20-30 nicer 70's copper. Found 2 1970-s, but both look like large date. Earliest wheat was a 1944, 2 of the canadian's were of the early 70's variety, one was a late 70's variety. Was fun for my first box. I was mostly just looking for copper. looking for silver seems so far and between. More fun when you're pulling like 10-12 coins per 50, than 1 coin in the whole box of dimes, etc. No major varieties that I saw, I mostly just check WAM's and cam's. |

Finished my weekly $50 today.$15 in copper,18 wheats, 8 S mints. Best wheat was a 1910 in VF,1921-S wasn't bad either.

I finished off another $50 bag. 10 canadian coppers...with nothing special about them. 26 wheats with the best being a VF 1935. Had one very corroded and I know it has to be a 1909S VDB. It's solid green and I could barely make out the reverse to tell it was a wheat. I also got 18 s mints from 68 to 74. Found a couple of small lamination coins and that's about it. No wams or cams or decent 88's or 95's or 72's....did find a couple of 1960P's, all large date. I did find a number of 1960D small dates but all were in very circulated condition. Total copper % around 28%. About average. Again, I found alot of copper 82's. About twice the normal rate.

even if that guy is in bad shape, if you can make it out to really be a 1909 s vdb, then you have a treasure right there. G4 condition is $750.

one like that on ebay right now murrellington....he is trying for $200 Hoosier...my copper was a little higher than normal too, when that happens I expect a little more from the rest but it has been working the opposite.The bag I thought was already searched had very little copper but two DDO's...go figure. |

Finished my first sorting on the $30.00 I got Tues. Only 2 S's a 69 and 70, lowest amount for them I ever had. 17 environmentally damaged wheaties all commons from the 40's and 50's looks exactly like the batch I got a month or so ago. They can be brought back to some sort of life after 5-7 days in olive oil. Have no idea what I am going to do with all those.
Also got 12 other normal wheaties oldest a 35 did get a 47s that filled a slot.
Then there was the nice BU 61d.
Checked for cams and wams nothing again, plus check all my 2006's nothing there. Next will be checking my 90's for those doubled columns then going to do the '88's last and see if I can get lucky.
Everyone be careful in this weather we are having, even down here around Houston we had rolling power outages yesterday and expecting them again when the rain and snow hit tonight.

Maineman...the copper was average...the number of copper 82's was 2X's usual. Was over 170 for the $50 bag.

Shoot, by the way, I got that mystery wheat sitting in some olive oil. How long should I do this? First time trying this. The whole coin is dark and green and dark....but, no joke, I do think I see a "9" as the last number. And, no joke, I think I see the "0"! Now all I need is the "S" and the "VDB"! But...my loupe sends me for a loop sometimes. Wish me luck!
