Had one last roll to search this morning and found the one listed below. Unfortunately any minimal value it may have had is ruined by a very hard glob of glue or something on the reverse. I am sure any attempt to remover or clean will either damage the coin or leave an off color spot where the glue was. Oh well, that's the way it goes some times, have heard of these before but never found one in circulation. Hmmm, can't seem to post second image will try with an additional post to the topic

no luck, the "add image" link will not open again. any way it is a 1974 D Lincoln counterstamped with what I think to be JFK portrait.

Nice Lincoln/JFK. I've found 4 or 5. All have the glue. I have one given to me as a kid that is still on the cardboard it was sold with. They sell for a buck or two.

Hi,
My first post here but I've been lurking for about a week. I was really into my dad's coin collection when I was about 5-10 y.o. but moved onto baseball cards/comics/etc. Now I'm 30 and started up again last week. I don't even know why, but I just started copper/zinc sorting my loose change pennies and then 2 hours later I was at my bank buying a $25 box of pennies and one of nickels. I've been to the bank 3 times this week and now I think my eyes are hurting from 3 straight days of sorting.
I was disappointed to find out that my bank doesn't sell the actual boxes the rolls come in (e.g. no Brinks box) and they were customer rolled and you have to carry them out. I found some with 51 or 52 pennies in them. Some with a dime instead of a penny. A nickel roll with a penny in it, etc.
But then I hit a roll with like 5-10 barely circulated 2009 pennies. Then the roll next to it with an "X" in marker had about 50% of these 'almost BU' 2009 cents. I saw one more roll with an "X", dumped it out and the entire roll was 50 of these 'almost BU' 2009's. This last roll was only one series of the coin and between the other rolls there was enough for 50 of a 2nd series of this year. It looks like someone did save their 2009's by series, got strapped for cash, and turned them in.
Anyway, this was a nifty find for me, just starting out, wading through the tarnished copper to bust out an almost circularized roll or two of 2009's. I haven't gone through them one-by-one yet but I'm hoping to luck out and maybe get one that's one grade below BU.

BadThad: I have no idea since I don't keep 1991d or 1991d cents. is there a reason to keep them? I'm a newish collector so I don't know everything :)

Picked up my first 25.00 box of pennies and here are the results:
Out of 2,500 pennies, 561 coppers. About 22% copper pennies in the box. Out of those 561 copper pennies, I landed 21 wheaties including a beautiful GEM BU 1958D. Separately, I landed 6 Candian pennies. Is this representative of what everyone is seeing out there?

You should keep all MS red cents. A red, BU roll of 1986D is worth about $30, the 91D about $15. BU rolls of 91D are tough to come by and typically sell for more that CDN. There's only 2 sellers on ebay now which is typical. Look how much they go for in completed listings: http://completed.shop.ebay.com/i.ht...pg=50&_rdc=1

Normally I do not post about my Penny Box finds but this box has been no less than stellar. The box had a date of Feb 11. It gave me 65% Copper 59-81, 53 Wheats, 1 Indian Head, 1 Bahamas cent, 68 1982 cents, and then this. I have no idea if this is fake or not, hoping it isn't, so I took some rather large pics in hopes someone here can shine a little light on it. I cant remember the last time I had this good of a box.
