It's worth at least $0.01.
Depending on how bad the damage is, it might be worth a couple bucks to someone.

box done 7 wheats all common 40's and 50's coin show today filled 3 wheat holes 1925 D .20 cents 1925 S .75 cents 1926 D .25 cents she only charged me 90 cents though. Really nice lady all 3 were from her bargain box silver is so high right now I have been buying a few random nickels and cents instead all I bought today was these 3 coins I usually wont spend more then 10 bucks but today I wasn't in a buying mood

on another note, I love searching rolls and thats how I have found almost every coin I have but when you can get wheat pennies so cheap its really easy to buy them especially with gas going up as high as it is dumping and picking up coins is getting to be expensive

Have some more checking todo but here is what I have found so far from $45.00 worth. 3 Canadian, 8 wheaties 1920P, 1930P, 1939P(environmental damage) with the rest being common 40's and 50's. Had a very good haul on S's 14 in total with a 1970 and a 1974 being in MS condition nice and bright with just a little bit of smudging, best I have found in 5 months of searching. Also found a 2003D 1DR-002 plus a couple other minor ones.

Quote: That's not the case for me down here. Out of 12 boxes of pennies I've found (5) 68-S; (7) 69-S; (12) 70-S; (10) 71-S; (3) 72-S; (1) 73-S; and (10) 74-S. Also, another 25 of those dates combined from circulation (either change, or rolls at work).
Lucky you! The 68-S is the lowest mintage Memorial cent. The 74-S is about the only one I ever see and that's rare.

I think you might just have bad luck, Thad. I'm in Philly (can't get much further from San Fran, eh?) and I find 3-6 S-mint's a box, at minimum. Best box I ever had was about 30 S-minted coins.

Same here on the other side of the PA state. I do notice the difference when I'm in CA at my son's. More early S mints there too. My most abundunt date here is the 74 though.
