Customer wrapped rolls are starting to get scarce at the banks I go to since I have been stepping up my roll searching. But I got lucky today and got 5 rolls of 100% copper! No wheats but I am a copper hoarder, plus most were in good shape.

A little help on my strategy. Since I am a noob and not sure what all the CAMS and WAMS, and all those other varieties are I want to get more experience under my belt before I start determining them...tell me if what I am good. Open one roll at a time take a few pennies out at a time onto my cotton glove. Sort them by date in a row. I keep a lot of dates because I am trying to get close to BU's on earlier dates filled up in a rolls so I have them to fall back on. I am also taking this Cents All Wheat, Indian Head, and S mint cents 1959 1959 D 1959 D/D/D large/small rpm 1960 small date 1960 D small date 1960 D/D rpm 1960 D/D large/small DDO rpm 1961 D 1961 D/Horizontal D rpm 1962 D 1963 1963 D 1966 1968 1968 D 1968 S 1969 1969 S 1970 S large and small date 1970 S/S rpm 1971 1971 DDO1972 DDO1972 S 1973 D 1973 S 1974 1974 D 1974 S 1975 D 1976 1976 D 1982 Seven varieties 1983 DDR1984 DDO1984 Doubled ear 1992 CAM 1992 D CAM 1994 DDR1995 DDO1997 DDO1998 WAM1998 S CAM 1999 WAM1999 S CAM 2000 WAM2006 DDOAs a cheat sheat kinda. Just so I know what to pull so I can look later and come back to them and see what I have in the rolls. But for now... my haul after 3 rolls. 1 wheat 1952D 1959 D 1971 S 1972 S 1974 S 1975 D 1976 D (terrible shape) 3x 1982 1x 1984 One it looks like a shifted die on a 1999 D. 2x 2000 And numerous close to BU 2005s-2009 and ONE 2005 philly yayyay.

You're being too careful. To find the good stuff you need to move faster IMO. You don't need gloves, just dump that whole roll out and get going. I can narrow the roll down by culling the known junk in just a couple of minutes. I usually pull the copper first, badly corroded junk, then the years I'm not interested in searching....all culls. The rest I can look at in a matter of minutes. To find the good stuff, you gotta go through a TON of coins. The faster you work, the greater your odds of finding something worth keeping.

Thanks BadThad..
That makes sense. Everything pre 1982 is copper correct?
When you say you pull copper do you keep it all? And what is your "cheatsheet or cherrypickers" guide that you follow Thad?

This noob is still having trouble telling the difference between small and large date. I think this is a small date? Yes or No?

Tell me what you think it is? Keep it handy for reference coin after you know...be sure to label it. All you need to look at is the 6 and the difference will be obvious. Save this picture, large date on the left:

Quote: Tell me what you think it is? Well when I pulled it from a roll I thought it was a small date. But I won't give my final answers untill I have the coin in my hands and use that picture you posted. I cant tell for sure from my picture.
