They made nearly 4 billion 2010 shield cents last year, so IMO only very nice MS ones are worth keeping.

There's plenty of the other 2009's out there in nice BU rolls, so I don't see them as gaining value over the years and I have more than enough for my collection. So assuming the packaging weigh the same, I have some decent copper and hopefully wheats ahead of me. I wonder what will happen if I ask the bank if I can weigh the boxes before I buy them. HAHAHAHA....that's an awesome idea for the copper hoarders. If you keep track over time, you'll be able to peg the copper in every box without opening it! |

2 hours into my 18 boxes and I still hadn't looked at a single coin.
I took a large tote, and dumped 9 boxes worth into it before I started seperating.
Nothing special so far, probably around 150+/- wheats (earliest 1919s, most are 40's early 50's) and around 30 pounds of copper.

I just finished with 2200 Lincoln cents (44 rolls, 35 CWR - 9 Brinks rolled).I pulled 370 copper cents (a little low @ 16.8%). I pulled 8 wheaties (.363%). This batch had more than an average number of mint state coins in the 70's, and Philly coins in high MS grades (very tough to get on the West coast). But I almost fell out of my chair to discover an 1857 Flying Eagle cent!   . I have never owned one, never seen one - except under glass at a coin shop. I have no clue how a coin that old winds up mixed in with a bunch of zincolns! Looks like it grades G6 (obverse), VG8 (reverse). Don't have camera to show pics yet - but apparently am going to have to get one... 260,000 coins in, I have now found coins from 7 foreign countries, a blank planchet, even a 1998 WAM ... But never even IMAGINED coin this old was even possible in a modern roll!  |

I just bought a zOrb off of Amazon for less than $30, and it takes incredible pics of coins, something like up to 38%x and is very easy to set up and use. If you want to see one of my pics using it, look back 10 or 15 messages in this thread... I posted a pic of a plated 1957D I find in a bank roll. If you are looking for something primarily for coin pics, you can't go wrong with a zOrb digital microscope! Les |

I was off in my guess... my pic I suggested you look at is 24 messages back, if you're interested in seeing what the zOrb can produce. That's a full coin... close up, it's only about a corner of the coin.

WOW! Amazing find on the Flying Eagle cent! You struck gold! Another FED box down tonight. I have lost count on the number of boxes I have done, I think it's like 10-12. Anyway, some  tonight! My first steel cent from circulation! 1943!  Also, a new record on age! 1916 LWC! Really beat up though, but I'll take it! No hole fillers wheats: 12-oldest 1916! I find less in a FED box usually but this time it was better. CWRs ALWAYS do better on wheats though copper: 635 for 25.4% not bad for one night's work. roll high: 21 roll low: 6 counterstamp: liberty bell and USA stamp I found a ton of canadians this time, one roll had five! oldest: 1941 Not a bad night.
