I have been buying OBW rolls so that feeds the hobby but its not as fun. Rabobank Box Copper 21% Wheats - 2, not percent, 2 total wheats, a new low. Foreign coins - 5 Candains, 1 peso, 2 others but my daughter collects foreigns and she took them before I could catalog them I did get many BU UNC 1998-2007 cents. This box had many clean cents. sethhsu New Member United States 29 Posts	Posted 09/04/2011 5:08 pm I had an interesting experience this weekend. On Saturday morning I purchased a box of pennies, and started searching. After 800 pieces, I found no wheat at all although the copper rate was normal. So I stopped and went to a coin shop. From the owner I bought 1000 wheats for 4.5 cents a piece. The dealer also salted in 2 or 3 better dates for me secretly. Now I have finished searching the wheat pennies, no keys, very few semi-keys, lots of 30s and 40s with some 20s and a few 10s. Good ones: 1909VDB, 1931D, 1914S, 1938S. Seems like all the 10s have been removed. Above is not the fun part of the story.... After finished this pile of wheats, I returned to my box of bank wrapped pennies. The next roll gave me 2 wheats and the roll after this gave me a 1919D! Grade was poor, but this is my record of the oldest penny found in rolls. (my oldest find was a 1927D before). Looks like my rolls know what I am thinking and my action of buying a bag of wheats stimulated them.... Report this Post to the Staff

We've seen it a million times, the odds of this being an actual copper 1943 are less than one in 100 trillion. It's probably a die struck fake if it's not magnetic. Join the Lincoln Cent Resource forums and ask Bob Piazza to look at it. Or you could send it to coppercoins (Chuck) here on the forum for an evaluation. unholyroller Pillar of the Community United States 1903 Posts	Posted 09/04/2011 10:53 pm To me on that "43 copper", if you look at the picture of the reverse it seems apparent it is a cast copy. Notice the weak appearance of the large lettering, especially the near absence of the "s" in states. If I had to wager my bet, I would bet it is a cast copy. Report this Post to the Staff

pennycollecter93 Valued Member United States 99 Posts	Posted 09/05/2011 11:21 am Got my first $25 of pennies and sorted them. here are the finds I had. 1969 s 1970s (i think high date) 1974s and some 50's wheats and pretty penny awards (that's what I call the good looking older pennies from 70's 60's. a panama cent as well as bunch of Canadian pennies. oldest coin was a 1940 Canadian cent. The gem of the batch I would say is a really spectacular looking 1968 s! and I am curious about this 71 d. the d looks really low. Report this Post to the Staff
