I just found a 1907 Indian in that 25 dollar bag of loose pennies. I was bigtime surprised ! 5 wheats and an IHC, not bad. I doubt I'm half way through it.

I've read this article by Ken Potter and found it very interesting & useful:http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis...&rid=2197220

Especially this section: "The cents struck from 1963 through about mid 1982 are of a solid brass composition made up of 95 percent copper and 5 percent zinc. They weigh 3.11 grams. The cents struck from about mid 1982 to date are struck on planchets made up of a solid zinc core (with a trace of copper) that are barrel plated with pure copper and weigh 2.5 grams."

ALL LINCOLN ROLL HUNTER should keep their eyes open & their weighting scale beside them when searching.....

May be someone from CCF can one day, with a struck of luck, find one of this 1983 copper cent.

Grabbed a box of CWR's on my way to my daughters soccer game yesterday. Found my second proof penny. Now I have a 1976 and 1979 in my collection.

Tonight I found my first 1918s. So now I have 40 holes left in my first Whitman folder. It gets very hard to find a hole filler.

SilentAsian4Hire,

I saw that article and grabbed my scale... the scale that I purchased after I read "Strike it Rich with Pocket Change." They are definitely out there - maybe one of my 1000+ I've been setting aside weighs 3.11 grams.
